SINGULAR is a computer algebra system for polynomial computations with emphasis on the special needs of commutative algebra, algebraic geometry and singularity theory.
SINGULAR's main computational objects are ideals and modules over a large variety of base rings. The base rings are polynomial rings or localizations theoreof over a field (e.g. finite fields, the rationals, floats, algebraic extensions, transcendental extensions) or quotient rings modulo an ideal. It is useful to calculate basis of a cohomology group and its Hodge structure.
