In the framework of the project "Clay mathematical
lectures" (see the home page of Clay
Mathematical Institute), Pierre Deligne will deliver a cycle of three
lectures at the IUM.
- Title:
- Report on Multizeta Values
- Schedule:
- Thursday, April 25, 2002, 3:40pm
- Friday, April 26, 5:00pm
- Monday, April 29, 5:00pm
- Abstract:
- Multizeta values were first
considered by Euler, who proved among other
identities that $\zeta(2,1):=\sum_{n>m}1/n^2m$
equals $\zeta(3):=\sum 1/n^3$. More recently,
they appeared as the coefficients of Drinfeld
associator. They encode the mixed Hodge
structure of the fundamental group (made
unipotent) of ${\mathbb P}^1-\{0,1,\infty\}$.
This makes the philosophy -- and theory -- of
motives applicable.
